I don't know if the proliferation of much bigger name people coming to Substack is a good thing or a not so good thing, nor if the loss of subscribers because of who owns Substack is a big enough issue to warrant looking at other options.
If they are, and the community of people like you that you've been building relationships with might consider moving en mass, I would suggest taking a look at Ghost.
I know that the folks there will help people like you make the move at no cost to you.
There's a group of writers who were at DailyKos.com for a very long time until a bit over a year ago who now write at Uncharted Blue (https://unchartedblue.com/) which is running on Ghost's platform. Hunter runs the tech side and I expect he'd be happy to chat about their experience.
