What you said at 15 minutes reminded me of this: the Four Freedoms, Freedom of speech and expression, Freedom of worship, Freedom from want, Freedom from fear. That goes back to Roosevelt in 1941. But, before that you were talking about planning ahead rather than election cycles. This republican devolution to the contradictory messages of fascism and the destruction of the federal government has been long planned. I realize I've said this before. It goes back to the 1971 memo by Lewis Powell, which led to the Heritage Project, which led to Reagan and deregulation, which led to the Federalist Society, which led to Bush, which led to Project 2025, which led to two Trump terms. Celebrating the three victories in VA, CA, and NJ (I don't mention NY because that was technically democrat v democrat) is short sighted. Bill Clinton (who i hate) helped create the Democratic Leadership Council. I disagree with what it did to the party, but Democrats need something analogous to the Heritage Project to create a strategy. We are not going to undo 50 years of damage with a couple of governorships and some reactive redistricting.
You're absolutely right, North. We need to be planning decades in advance, funding new media, and creating generational solutions instead of thinking this election and the next will save us. Some Dems (mostly online) call for Project 2028 from Dems, ignoring how derivative and uncreative such a thing is. As I said yesterday, we need radical creativity over perhaps decades, and we can't talk about going back to normal. Normal sucks for an awful lot of people!
Oh dear lord that would be a terrible idea. Republicans had 50 years to plan Project 2025. Trying to put one together in 3 would be a mess. If we are stealing Republican ideas, I would steal Contract with America. Simple bullets to put America back on track. John Lewis Act, Abolish ICE, Restructure tax code so it doesn’t reward capital and punish work, consistent foreign policy, I’m sure you have some ideas that would fit neatly in this.
