New Podcast Episode with Kimberly Allen on Voter Protection
Kim Allen, founder of Power the Vote and Blue Texas discusses voter protection and making sure that every vote is counted.
In the latest episode of our podcast “What the Gerrymander?” we speak to Kim Allen, founder of Power the Vote and Blue Texas. During the 2020 election cycle, Kim was Deputy Director of Voter Protection at the Democratic Party of Georgia, where she led the ballot monitoring program. She started the voter protection program with Power the Vote in Texas after the 2020 election and is the founder of Blue Texas, which crowdsources funding for Democratic candidates for the state legislature, with the goal that no seat remain uncontested.
Kim discusses her activities in the 2020 Georgia Senate elections, where voter protection, appropriate vote-counting, and ballot curing enabled Joe Biden to win Georgia, and brought Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock to the US Senate.
She also discussed what a voter protection program might look like in a state like Indiana or another MAGA-captured state, and offered to talk with anyone looking to raise funds for or organize to create a voter protection program across the country.
Please listen, and think about what YOU can do to help build power in Indiana or another MAGA-captured state. And please pass this on to anyone in your network who cares about freedom and democracy.
