My mother-in-law is 95 yrs. old and lives in an Assisted living facility which is costing $7400 a month. My question is how do any normal American citizens that are not in the rich, "billionaires club" manage such high prices for care of the elders. In our mobile society many do not live close enough to be right there when things go wrong which makes it more difficult too. She is in the hospital now and they found she has MRSA and pneumonia but Is responding to treatment and will be returned to the facility tomorrow. We have just determined that if one of us ends up in a facility we will just have to spend down our savings, and then pay by selling our home. For sure there will not be any money to pass on to my daughter who could surely use a lift. So, the rich get richer and the rest of us will end up lining up for food.

I think a lot of people get put in nursing homes covered by Medicaid after their personal savings are exhausted.
