What we know, what we don't know, and what we need to do.
Win by ballot, not bullet. Control guns, not girls. Talk about the stakes, not the odds. And keep f*ing working every day to win this election by spreading the word about Project 2025
Hi all,
Yesterday at dinner, my 16 texted me from Gibraltar where he’s traveling, what happened at Trump rally? Huh? So I looked on Twitter. Nothing. Looked on Google. Nothing. It took a few minutes even to be reported in the US media, though the international media was all over it.
So first, I will say that political violence is never OK, even against someone who has been fomenting it for the last decade. That’s what the fascists do, not people who believe in democracy. There’s wild speculation all over the place about what happened, so let me catch you up.
.
What we know: At a Donald Trump rally yesterday, someone shot an AR-17 in Donald Trump’s general direction. Trump appeared to have an injury to his ear. One rally-goer was killed, a firefighter named Corey, with 2 daughters and a wife. Another was critically injured. A counter-sniper shot the shooter, who was set up on a nearby roof, within seconds of the shooting. The shooter was a 20 year old Republican who had borrowed/stolen the AR-15, I think from his dad. After a series of popping sounds, Donald Trump put his hand to his ear, which appeared to be bloody, and dropped to a crouch. USSS or other security personnel rushed him on the stage, covered him up bodily and after what seemed like a long time, stood up to move him toward his car. Trump asked for his shoes at least three times, and stood up pumping his fist and screaming “Fight!” while security seemed to be trying to move him to his vehicle. His head and chest remained exposed while he shouted. He resisted getting in the car, which exited the area slowly. On Twitter, many Democratic leaders denounced political violence, and at least one Republican House member blamed Biden. Nearly instantaneously, a picture of Trump pumping his arm, with a bloody face and a flag right near by, flew around the internet. Within a few minutes, President Joe Biden addressed the country from the Oval Office denouncing political violence and calling for calm. And theories about the event were popping up all over political Twitter.
We know that Trump posted on Truth Social that something big was going to happen this weekend and to be prepared for it. We don’t know whether this is a reference to the convention or something else.
And Project 2025 is still a blueprint for the dictatorial beginning of a Trump administration. And the Republican National Convention starts tonight. Those are things we know.
What we don’t know:
Here’s where the rumors begin.
We don’t know what actually happened to Trump’s ear.
We don’t know why the USSS hadn’t secured the roof with the shooter in advance.
We don’t know why the counter sniper waited until shots were fired before acting.
We don’t know why Trump wanted his shoes and why the security detail allowed him to pump his fist, leaving his head and chest exposed.
We don’t know why someone was able to catch the photo of the bloodied and injured leader, surrounded by security, with a flag at just the right angle, that began circulating within minutes.
We don’t know why it took a long time for the SUV to leave the scene.
That leaves a lot open to question, but we don’t know the answers and we might not know for a while.
We do know that this event could open the door to right wing political violence that’s ready to go, guns out, at a moment’s notice. We know that this is a perilous time in the United States with Democrats denouncing political violence, and some Republican party members accusing the president of ordering a hit. I have seen very few Republican leaders denounce political violence or call for calm. (Maybe they did, but I just didn’t see it.)
What we do. We call for unity and what the majority wants: Freedom to live without fear for our lives and our loved ones. We continue to denounce political violence, but we also continue to talk to people we know about Project 2025, what Trump has promised to do, and why Joe Biden (who is still the presumptive Dem nominee, whatever the conversation) needs to be re-elected. We keep talking about the dangers of Christian Nationalism. We talk about Trump and Epstein. We talk more about Project 2025, and then spread the word even further about Project 2025. We by and large ignore the corporate media, whose journalistic standards have fallen well below sea level.
That’s the gist. We don’t condone violence, but WE DO NOT FUCKING STOP working to win this election. From President to school board, every office, every state, every conversation is important. WE MUST CONTINUE to let the country know about Project 2025. If you haven’t already, follow
and her Substack “How Project 2025 will ruin your life.” If you haven’t listened to my interview with Dr. Matthew Taylor and Andra Watkins, please go to my page and listen to both. It’s a dangerous time in America. We know there will be more political violence from the other side. We need to continue to work as hard as we can to win in November.
I need a hug. Probably a shot of whiskey and a joint would help as well. I refuse to pick the cigarettes back up. And I REALLY want one.
I am disturbed by the audio of the target saying “wait wait wait.” Before the target put his fist in the air. I’m annoyed at the fact that I wouldn’t be surprised if the ‘only optics matter’ guy orchestrated a central-casting dog wagger for the ages, which was somehow worth the life of at least one supporter. It’s a repellent thought, but to those who have empathy, it’s hard to fathom what it feels like to have none. To those who lack empathy, only one life matters. Their own. Throwing one life away feels about as bad as throwing a food wrapper away. I’m angry that I can’t say with any confidence, what their red line is. The flood of shit in this zone has worked. Ugh.
Trump arranged it, we should say it, these points are sufficient. Because if we don't, they will, they have already started. Scream about it so that media is confused.
