Old white man here, and I think that Joe Biden should pass the torch to Kamala Harris. Even if he would be ready to go on day one I don't believe he can do the job for four more years. I believe that Kamala Harris can and will defeat tRump. Joe's lapses are telling us that he should be letting someone younger take over. That's just the opinion of one old white man.

Y’all sound like Blue Maga it’s unbelievable. Is the bar in hell? Joe Biden is ALREADY going to lose to Trump.

In 2020, he had MASSIVE leads in the polls, in some states he was winning with double digits. It was only because of our rigged election system (gerrymandering, electoral college, restricted voter access) that he won with the slim margin of victory he did back then.

Now we see the writing on the wall. He’s down 9% points on average and after the debate he got worse not better…. And y’all are still ridin with Genociden Biden.

Don’t forget it’s because of a GENOCIDE which HE could have ended and which HE is arming and funding, that caused him to lose the Arab-American and much of the youth vote.

Finally, his age is unavoidable. Call me ageist, call me ageist, but I call it elder abuse to put that man through another debate with trump when we all know his faculties are failing… which is absolutely the MAIN reason why he is down 10% points with independents

You’re on a sinking ship and refusing to jump to a better ship insisting that the one you’re on is fine. You are all delusional. In complete denial.

Denial is a river in Egypt… and it takes a lot of time and energy to cross it. But if y’all don’t pull your fingers out of your ass and jump ship before it’s too late. Trumps victory will be not only on Biden’s ego, but on you too.

(PS literally every serious call for Biden to step down is usually followed by Kamala as the next obvious choice. So I have no idea where this poster gets off on pull the racist/sexist card. Literally grasping at smoke for a semblance of sanity when there is no sanity voting for a man who is LITERALLY SENILE)

I find that the people who are panicking the most are the NeverTrumpers who feel no sense of loyalty to Democratic issues or, pretty much, Democrats in general. I love the way they are feeling so entitled that they feel it necessary to to tell the Democrats what they should do - as if Democrats care.

We like President Biden because he's “our guy” and his issues are “our issues” - it's as simple as that. If the Republican “Never Trumpers” want to support our guy to achieve their goal - fine. But once they start making demands, they obvs need to be reminded.

The whole “Democrat Party” juvenile name-calling by Republicans didn't originate with Trump and virtually everyone associated with the Republicans in the 21st century engaged in that disrespect. If that's the case with you, Mr or Mrs NeverTrumper, - dont even bother. We really have no interest in what you have to say.

Will women vote to enslave themselves, their daughters, granddaughters and nieces? Will they vote to make childbirth deadly again?

Yes, they will. Because they think the rules apply to those other unwashed people. They know they can force the system to give them the abortion care they might need. Or they have the resources to receive it abroad.

All this to look pious.

I guess I'm an old white man. So is Mehdi Hasan? So are all the young people out there who are furious that these are their choices?

Not this white dude - Biden’s only had a couple of blunders in an otherwise amazing run as president in a polarized nation no less. There is no one that can beat Trump 5 months out except Joe Biden and he will because Democracy is at stake and anyone with common sense will get on the Biden train. He has two strong, smart women - his wife and VP and an excellent administration to help run the show. Anyone who is sowing seeds of doubt is only helping to kill Democracy and letting the evil orange beast win. Here’s some of Biden admin’s incredible accomplishments for those with sort term memories…

Passed the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package to increase investment in the national network of bridges and roads, airports, public transport and national broadband internet, as well as waterways and energy systems.

Helped get more than 500 million life-saving COVID-19 vaccinations in the arms of Americans through the American Rescue Plan.

Stopped a 30-year streak of federal inaction on gun violence by signing the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act that created enhanced background checks, closed the “boyfriend” loophole and provided funds for youth mental health.

Made a $369 billion investment in climate change, the largest in American history, through the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

Ended the longest war in American history by pulling the troops out of Afghanistan.

Provided $10,000 to $20,000 in college debt relief to Americans with loans who make under $125,000 a year.

Cut child poverty in half through the American Rescue Plan.

Capped prescription drug prices at $2,000 per year for seniors on Medicare through the Inflation Reduction Act.

Passed the COVID-19 relief deal that provided payments of up to $1,400 to many struggling U.S. citizens while supporting renters and increasing unemployment benefits.

Achieved historically low unemployment rates after the pandemic caused them to skyrocket.

Imposed a 15% minimum corporate tax on some of the largest corporations in the country, ensuring that they pay their fair share, as part of the historic Inflation Reduction Act.

Recommitted America to the global fight against climate change by rejoining the Paris Agreement.

Strengthened the NATO alliance in support of Ukraine after the Russian invasion by endorsing the inclusion of world military powers Sweden and Finland.

Authorized the assassination of the Al Qaeda terrorist Ayman al-Zawahiri, who became head of the organization after the death of Osama bin Laden.

Gave Medicare the power to negotiate prescription drug prices through the Inflation Reduction Act while also reducing government health spending.

Held Vladimir Putin accountable for his invasion of Ukraine by imposing stiff economic sanctions.

Boosted the budget of the Internal Revenue Service by nearly $80 billion to reduce tax evasion and increase revenue.

Created more jobs in one year (6.6 million) than any other president in U.S. history.

Reduced healthcare premiums under the Affordable Care Act by $800 a year as part of the American Rescue Plan.

Signed the PACT Act to address service members’ exposure to burn pits and other toxins.

Signed the CHIPS and Science Act to strengthen American manufacturing and innovation.

Reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act through 2027.

Halted all federal executions after the previous administration reinstated them after a 17-year freeze.

I am not a white man and I think Biden should retire. I am 73 years old. I know in fact how aging takes a toll. I will only vote Democrat in November because I know what is at stake but I think young voters will stay home or skip the presidential race on their ballot or vote for Trump in protest (god help us)! Also lots of folks will tell you a vote for Biden is really a vote for Harris and they feel they are being played. The old switcheroo. It was hubris for Biden to run again. He is not indispensable. I will vote Democrat but I am very worried it will not be enough and even before November I think Biden may, as we all will, face the fact he cannot stop the march of time. There is no frame of mind or little pill or miracle cure. He is mortal just like the rest of us.

Thanks for your response. I could add that perhaps Kamala just wasn't ready for years ago and it's possible she wasn't a good matchup against Trump. Biden won so that's sort of proof. And that was the most important thing. This just may be her time as she's spent 4 years at the highest levels of executive experience. I think that's quite an elevation in her game! She probably make one of the best we've had and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that. In fact I know a very many knowledgeable thoughtful people who are completely engaged who agree she'd be best at this point. Michael Moore being one of them. That's a pretty great endorsement

That's an interesting observation that I didn't catch! I don't think it's wrong to have a conversation. Michael moore. White male. But with impeccable progressive credentials, had a post about kamala taking over. He says what a lot of people think and I bet they're probably women who feel the same way. Tell me if I'm wrong. He started the piece by saying, 'the national committee is trying to tell us"don't believe you're lying eyes" . We all know what we saw on stage.' I think it's a function of folks perceiving it in a different way than others. I agree with Moore that the folks who are saying it was just one bad debate performance are being a little bit disingenuous. I would encourage everybody to read that piece. I'm trying to collect views of folks I respect and formulate my own idea. Of course we are not privy to a lot of things that go on. What was the context and decisions of the Biden team leading up to the debate that allowed it to happen. It did not happen in a vacuum. So don't gaslight our own side! We know what we saw that night. It wasn't just a bad debate performance. Let's t's not be like a cult and decide that there's only one person that can beat Donald Trump. Or that if you question Biden you're not part of the team anymore. Or that in light of new information we're not going to change our minds. If that's the case we're in pretty bad shape. Any of the Democrats would be a fine choice. I think there are a lot of upsides to Kamala taking the Torch!

So why not take the dissenting members of our own side and engage in a conversation in a quiet family type way away from the company 😜 I think as long as we gel around the person selected we will be fine. I don't think you lose any voters if Kamala takes over. Anybody who won't vote for her wasn't going to vote for Joe. She will probably pick up a lot more votes and drive enthusiasm! And I suppose the funding machine in the ballot etc etc would be an easier task if she took over.

If something happens and Joe declines in any way between now and the election it could be so much more consequential at that point. Looking forward to the community's

thoughts. Thanks. We're in this together.

The big bad news about Pres. Biden’s age/performance dwarfs maga king’s long-standing performance of showing us who he really is. (It ain’t good news, but it’s constant) Is nobody in the media or his own party willing to demand that dt step aside or get him where he belongs-jail. We are watching a slow-but-steadily-moving maga coup.

Be very afraid.
