I am a “Boomer “ - (btw, we despise being called that,” who once watched a lot of news. Tbf, I’ve been a political junkie since I was 10 - weird I know. I remember 1968 and the resultant effects from that convention- gave us Nixon. From the time the debate - if it can be called that - started, I knew the attacks were intentional by the Republicans and the calls to remove and replace Biden are part of the plan. Anyone participating in this narrative is falling into their trap. Now, the media has gotten to the point I silence all but the few ones who speak truthfully, sanely, and factually. I hope your mom can get to that point too.
If she is up to it ask her to read Teri Kanefield’s 6 essays in 24 hour news & the outrage machine. It changed my life! I still watch MSNBC but not consistently & with a different view of “news.”
Perhaps show her this thread of responses. Her peers’ thoughts and actions might have more success than you - sadly. As children often ignore their parents, we are prone to the same.
MSNBC has fooled lots of people into thinking it's the "Democratic" channel, just like Fox News is the Republican one. But it's all a scam - every election year, they fire a couple of their most progressive outliers and tack HARD to the "center." They can't fire Rachel Maddow, because then the game would be up.
This: We talk about how this movement to replace Biden is driven by the media narrative, unattributed quotes, shitty journalism, and cable TV that is chock full of opinion, but chock empty of facts.
Not really.
It is also driven by people who know darn well what it means to be elderly.
There is genuine concern. Not just made up concern about this issue.
Of course DJT is in the same boat. He is also too old. It’s just that his villainy rises to the top in terms of the reasons to oppose him.
I do not think it is just a made up concern or overblown.
I will vote for democracy first BUT I am not confident enough people will.
A change to a new younger candidate would be the way to go I think. It will probably have to wait until the convention though.
As a Biden fan, I was saddened to see him walk to the podium for the debate. He was clearly over the hill. I'm in his age bracket so I speak with some experience. All can go well until a stressful situation arises. Expect the same result at the next debate. If he hangs on and loses, his legacy will be that of one of the worst presidents ever.
That being said, we all need work no matter what Biden decides. (I hope he does the patriotic thing and withdraws as a candidate). Trump will be a dictator running a fascist state with MAGA brown shirts making people's lives miserable.
He is STILL doing a great job! Yep, he is old. If he gets into trouble in his 2nd term, he can turn it over to Kamala. He is the one to beat Trump. Get excited and back him 150%!
And if they can only get rid of Biden, they know they also get rid of Kamala!
What I tell every one of these people is that after Biden wins again, I fully expect them to check out of the constructive political process again until the next last minute. Catches all of them by surprise, because they know it’s true.
I’m 72 and from Minnesota so I definitely remember Hubert Humphrey. I was hoping Robert Kennedy would win and then he was assassinated. I know I watched some of the convention. There is not enough time to get behind a new candidate and successfully elect them. I learned that lesson from watching 1968. The whole Biden’s too old refrain is a new version of “ lock her up” about Hillary. We need to elect Joe.
For many years, I didn’t have access to MSNBC and I was so excited to finally be able to watch their channel instead of searching for clips. Unfortunately, I realized that the majority of their programming was just lazy journalism. Instead of giving us the news or well-researched segments, each program became a television version of Twitter, with each host choosing “a trending topic” (often the *same* trending topic) and discussing that topic with talking heads, who generally agreed with the host. I was so disappointed.

Hubert Humphrey is the name you want in place of Hoover.
Thank you. The HOOO sound got me.
And that's exactly how memorable HHH was.

I’ll check it out. Don’t guarantee her participation 😜
You could read it & sneak information in while talking to her.
Perhaps show her this thread of responses. Her peers’ thoughts and actions might have more success than you - sadly. As children often ignore their parents, we are prone to the same.
We need to run our best candidate. Biden is not our best candidate.
Yes, he is.
Great article and I’m that mom! And I’ve deleted all my msnbc recordings. I’m not wasting my precious time on bullshit!!!
Good for you!

Obama is younger. Biden’s first term has proven more progressive. Facts matter.

His legacy, of the past 3 plus years, will stand for itself. A debate will not change that. Seriously now.
He is STILL doing a great job! Yep, he is old. If he gets into trouble in his 2nd term, he can turn it over to Kamala. He is the one to beat Trump. Get excited and back him 150%!
Exactly. You know who else knows Joe is old? Joe. Such subterfuge belongs in the garbage with DJT, RFK, and NYT among others.
And if they can only get rid of Biden, they know they also get rid of Kamala!

I'm a boomer but haven't watched TV in years and I agree with you.
What is wrong with these white, supposedly Democrat men dimpingon the best and most successful President in my lifetime???
I'm your Mom's age. Make sure she doesn't subscribe to the Bulwark either 😉
