Information War: Here's what the other side believes.
Everyday Rs live in a different reality
As we focus more on the information war and how we can reach the public with fact-based news, it’s important to understand what the other side is being fed and what they believe. You can see this when you go look at the comments on posts from Democratic reps/senators. It’s truly an alternate universe where Musk really IS uncovering fraud and abuse, is only taking liberals’ information, and is rightsizing the American government.
Our elected officials and advocates haven’t yet created or optimized a system or platforms that reach everyday Americans with a plain, simple, repeatable message. So, what do I think they should do? I talk a little bit about it with Josh Cook in this week’s podcast…there’s a preview below. The main idea is that our federal elected officials and their comms teams (state and local too) need to broaden their ideas about comms. A press release isn’t going to cut it. They need to start reaching out to creators…even creators to don’t seem to be 100% relevant, because we have audiences they don’t know about. Josh and I talk about the org he’s helping create which will support creators, provide funds and production help, and any other thing they can do to build the system of creators…not just those who focus on politics. Because as I keep saying, we need to learn to talk about politics without talking about politics.
We live in completely different information universes. There is no common ground of facts. And I’ve listened to Rogan and Carlson, interview sent to me by my trumper friend, to see how to rebut them. But my friend won’t engage with research or other information I send to him.
This kind of content is what I need to get me out of my blue bubble. I want to know what news the Right is getting, but at the same time, not having to watch Fox News or Joe Rogan or YouTube videos about conspiracy theories.
