Hi friends,
I spend my time hosting the Freedom Over Fascism podcast (just click the logo above) where I interview organizers, activists, experts, entrepreneurs who work their butts off to elect democrats and fight fascism. But just for one second I want to recommend some articles to you envisioning what might happen if we don’t succeed and Trump/Project 2025 is elected. I don’t really want to think about it either, which is why I spend so much (virtually unpaid) time creating the community we’re building here and on the podcast, talking about people who are doing the work to protect freedom. But, once again, we have to grapple with what happens if we don’t win.

That’s why we need to step away some times and gear up for the fight that ramps way up around Labor Day. I still have a bunch of new episodes for you before I take a breather and give you the best of the past year to remind you of the stakes of the election and inspire you with stories of people fighting hard.
In the meantime, I have a couple of requests.
Will you please share this newsletter/podcast with anyone you know who wants freedom to win over fascism?
Please please consider a paid subscription. The content here is free, but I could really use some support to keep it going, since I don’t get paid at all for it.
Please visit my YouTube channel and sign up to be a subscriber (it’s just about the same content as here). My old channel was wiped out and I’d love to kick it up the algorithm a notch (@freedomoverfascismpod). My 16 yo helped me repopulate the new site…so yay him.
Thanks, all. Our episode that drops on Wed is with Madeline Eden, the co-founder of Civitech and the CTO of Movement Labs and Contest every race. Here’s a teaser.
Been thinking about this a lot, and Timothy Snyder's book 20 Lessons from the 20th Century is one that really sticks with me, almost like a handbook at this point. But indeed, what if he wins and it happens here? I don't think there's any chance it doesn't if he does win, and I spend so much time trying to wrap my head around the mentality that wants this and roots for it. We've lost an appreciation for what institutions actually do, rather than just seeing them as things that merely exist.
It won’t let me share outside Substack. Can you change it so I can?
