Stephanie talks to Jeremy Smith, CEO of Civitech on better tools and data for activists and candidates to use to register and reach voters. We discussed the importance of contesting every state and local race, what it takes to find the unregistered voters in an area and get them registered (hint: the most effective way is not standing at a street fair). Civitech identifies (democratic) voters and works with local organizers to reach them. We discussed the importance of investing in local volunteers and community members, and trusting them to know their communities and how to talk to their neighbors. Civitech has access to massive amounts of data and is about to launch a tool to make it affordable for activists and local candidates to use.
