Today I talked with the ED of Giffords, the organization that Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly started to reduce death from gun violence. I wanted to have a different conversation that the usual gun violence conversation…My goal was to start talking about the America we want to build, and she agreed.
But fun fact: Giffords has help pass 700 laws at the state level, saving a lot of lives in the process.
Unsurprisingly, she sees that future America is the one where the billionaires, the broligarchs, the oligarchs don’t own and corrupt a democratic country. Because, as she sees it, this is why we have a country of 300 million people and 400 million guns. Because those billionaires want to make money by selling weapons to anyone who will buy them, and enjoy immunity from lawsuits holding them responsible for deaths.
Once again, we find those pesky billionaires at the root of so much death in America. It’s a government for the billionaires, by the bullies, for the benefit of ultra rich.
